A Virginian and an explorer at heart, Armistead Booker is a designer and educator at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, where he works alongside scientists and exhibition staff to produce online and print resources for teachers and students nationwide. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Geology and a minor in Art History from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. He also runs an independent design firm called Refresh, producing a wide range of innovative media since 1999.
In addition to his work with the Metropolis Ensemble, Mr. Booker is a champion for a number of other creative and nonprofit projects around the world. He helps with outreach efforts for Love Light & Melody (Nicaragua), Global Playground (Washington, DC), Elias Fund (Zimbabwe), Dispatch Foundation (Manchester), Charity: Water (Central Africa), and Relief Project (Boston). Mr. Booker also serves as Communications Director for the Haven, an artistic collective in New York, Los Angeles, and London that promotes mercy and social justice.
Armistead is passionate about the arts: playing piano, writing stories, producing music videos, and drawing on everything since he was five. He continues to invest his time on projects with musicians, composers, actors, filmmakers, and dreamers. Among his collaborations, Mr. Booker works with Owl City, Avner Dorman, Braddigan (of Dispatch), Zach Williams, Bayley Silleck, and Matt Katsolis.
