On the ProgramMetropolis Ensemble and Artistic Director/Conductor Andrew Cyr present the World Premiere performance of Piano Concerto by Metropolis Ensemble's Wet Ink Composer Resident Ryan Francis (b. 1981) featuring pianist Anna Polonsky. Also on the program, three diverse masterpieces of the 20th Century that taken in as a whole, reveal a dramatic series of unfolding vistas of color and sensual images: Maurice Ravel's Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé, Esa-Pekka Salonen's Five Images from Sappho with soprano Kiera Duffy, and Erik Satie's twenty brilliant thumbnail sketches, Sports et Divertissements, in an ingenious arrangement for chamber orchestra by London-based composer, David Bruce, and narrated by master storyteller, Mike Daisey.
