elliot cole:
bloom

For five years Elliot Cole has been developing Bloom, a musical practice and software tool based in deep listening, chance, and pattern. His compositions generated in this practice range from virtuosic guitar music to hauntingly beautiful bowed vibraphone quartets, and represent some of his most popular works, garnering over 300 performances in 20 countries. For the first time ever, Metropolis Ensemble presents these kindred works all together in a single concert, with a short presentation to illuminate their shared roots in Bloom.

ASHLEY JACKSON:
ELECTRIC LADY

Praised for her rhythmic precision and dynamic range, harpist Dr. Ashley Jackson brings her latest project Electric Lady to 1 Rivington. Centered around her collaborations with New York-based composer Danielle Eva Schwob, a “notable cross-genre composer” (The New Yorker) and musical polymath with “deep roots in rock music” (The New York Times), it is a celebration of contemporary solo and chamber works written by female composers, whose works form the heart of this engaging program.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH METROPOLIS ENSEMBLE

Metropolis Ensemble now makes radio! We sat down with composer and one-woman orchestra Emily Wells for our very first podcast.

Because of the generous support of our followers, Metropolis Ensemble is thrilled to offer our new home at 1 Rivington as a space for new works of music to take shape at little to no cost to our artists. Select artists are given the opportunity not only to share finished works, but to use this space as ideas are crafted into tangible realities.
