In June 2024, thousands of people attended Biophony Solstice at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where sunrise and sunset concerts featured pianist Erik Hall, Sandbox Percussion, 52 percussionists, and Metropolis Ensemble artists.
Since 2021, our Flame Keepers live-streaming perpetual sonic art installation commissioned 140+ composers from around the world who have created over 4,000 musical stems.
Metropolis Ensemble is preparing for the New York Premiere of “In A Grove” in January 2025 at the Prototype Opera Festival, “a vividly immersive thriller” (NYTimes).

Liquidverse, an immersive audiovisual symphony by composer and electronic artist Ricardo Romaneiro, was developed, produced, and recorded in collaboration with Metropolis Ensemble. Now playing at Cosm LA and Cosm Dallas—home to the world’s first 87-foot, 12K LED domes—this groundbreaking experience redefines the intersection of music, technology, and visual art.
Since 2010, our studio recordings have received international recognition including Grammy and Opus Klassik nominations, a Juno award, and New York Times albums of the year.
Metropolis and pianist Han Chen commissioned a diverse cohort of 18 world premieres inspired by Ligeti’s piano études for Infinite Staircase, a sold-out, critically-acclaimed recital at National Sawdust.
