Metropolis Ensemble’s Biophony Pop-Up NYC, in partnership with the NYC Department of Transportation and Make Music New York, returns in Summer 2023 to dozens of pedestrian plazas, public squares, city parks, and open streets across the city.
Our previous Biophony Pop-Up events in 2021–22 expanded impact and opportunity for all:
500 performers and composers employed and supported
68 free pop-up concerts hosted in diverse neighborhoods across four boroughs
Bringing new music to dozens of new places in partnership with NYC DOT
An innovative digital platform allows musicians to pick their time, place, performing partners, and new works commissioned
Hundreds of social posts to share concert excerpts and behind-the-scenes moments
