ATLAS I: CHALACA
The reputation of the ecstatic and genre-bending trio Chalaca is spreading fast! Formed in 2016 by harpist Bridget Kibbey with Colombian musicians Benito Meza (clarinet) and Samuel Torres (percussion) around their fascination with the musical confluence between African, European and Andean cultures, Chalaca will talk about and perform newly-commissioned works alongside the folk masters that inspired them.
Following Bridget’s artist residency with Metropolis Ensemble in January, Chalaca travels to The Phillips Collection and Colombian Embassy in Washington D.C.
