Brad Balliett: Midsummer Night's Dream*

*World Premiere Metropolis Ensemble Commission

There’s no better way to appreciate the beauty and majesty of Shakespeare’s poetry than by taking a part in the action — which is exactly what happens at Interactive Shakespeare

A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's most original and fantastical comedy, tells a glittering story of four young lovers, a troupe of lovable misfit actors, and the hijinks that ensue when identities are mistaken in the night.

In this unique and innovative event, Brad Balliett hosts a performance-party in which attendees take on Shakepeare’s immortal roles, reading parts with their fellow concert-goers alongside experienced Shakespearians.

How does this work?

By changing the cast with every scene and providing clarifying commentary and synopses, Brad will guide attendees into Bard’s world by allowing the audience to become the actors — all set to newly-composed incidental music, performed by some of Metropolis’s finest musicians. Choose how much you wish to participate by taking on a large role, or simply watching the action unfold!

Brad Balliett is a composer and instrumentalist that performs with some of the finest ensembles in NYC, including Metropolis, Decoda, Signal, ICE, Trinity Wall St., and others. Brad's works have been commissioned by Carnegie Hall, Metropolis, Cantori, Notre Dame University, and other institutions. Brad also teaches at The Juilliard School.
