A Metropolis/VIVO Concert Collaboration

An evening with Metropolis Ensemble musicians, violinist Siwoo Kim and violist John Stulz, two artist-entrepreneurs who cofounded VIVO, a dynamic music festival in Columbus Ohio, featuring a string-trio concert evoking a musical house of mirrors. (Also with Metropolis Ensemble cellist Michael Katz).

Wednesday, December 12, 2018
1 Rivington Street / 2nd Floor (Buzzer #1) / New York, NY
6:30pm (doors) / 7:00pm (event)
Tickets: $15 general / $10 students / free for members

In Stulz's own Four Canons, the violist and Kim race, chase and mimic each other with musical acrobatics, while in Salvatore Sciarrino's Caprice #2, the solo violin is hollowed out into ghost-like harmonics. Violin and cello enter into twisting dialogue with Ravel's Duo, while Vivian Fung deconstructs the performing cellist in Humanoid. All three musicians come together for the architectural beauty of Andrew Norman’s award-winning Sabina, for string trio, a musical portrait of an iconic Roman Basilica.
