This weekend, Metropolis Ensemble will be guests at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, where conductor Andrew Cyr and mandolinist Avi Avital are nominated for “Best Instrumental Soloist Performance with Orchestra.” Avner Dorman’s Mandolin Concerto, part of our first studio album, Avner Dorman’s Concertos, is nominated alongside performances by Cleveland Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, Northwest Sinfonia, and the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra. David Frost also received a 2010 “Producer of the Year” Grammy nomination for his work on five albums, including his recording of Avner Dorman’s Concertos.

The Grammys will be broadcast live online starting at 4pm ET / 1pm PT on Sunday, February 13 for all 98 categories, including genres such as classical, gospel, latin, and reggae, ahead of the televised broadcast that begins at 8pm ET on CBS. Grammy Live will stream three full days of programming, including ceremonies, red carpet interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and news reports starting Friday, February 11. The Grammy Pre-Telecast Ceremony will be co-hosted by current GRAMMY nominees Bobby McFerrin and Esperanza Spalding, and will feature performances by blues musician Buddy Guy, singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper, contemporary blues artist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and legendary gospel singer Mavis Staples.

Tune into the online broadcast 4-7pm ET on Sunday and look for Andrew, Avi, and David as they participate in the ceremonies. The Metropolis team in New York will be updating with live tweets and blog posts throughout the weekend.
