At times her voice glinted like the moonlight on the scimitar that she sang of, and at others it seemed to float out uncannily... remarkably arresting...
— I Care If You Listen

The genre-blurring combination of Charlotte Mundy's "celestial" (The New York Times) voice and Jordan Dodson's warm virtuosity come to 1 Rivington to unveil four world-premiere works on varied perspectives of love, from the rapturous embrace to the excruciating memory. Running the gamut of styles both musically and lyrically, with texts from Rumi and Pablo Neruda, Mundy and Dodson will take listeners into both the thorniest and most sacred corners of ecstatic love.

The duo will perform original arrangements of Arroj Aftab’s sufi- and jazz-inflected Last Night My Beloved Was Like the Moon and Ann Peebles’ Memphis Soul masterpiece Can’t Stand the Rain, new compositions by Forrest Pierce, Lewis Nielson, and solo guitar music by Golfam Khayam. There will also be a few Beatles covers and, of course, free wine!
