Come celebrate the debut EP of composer Molly Joyce, Lean Back and Release. Metropolis Ensemble, in partnership with New Amsterdam Records, will be hosting a FREE EP-release party featuring performances by Joyce and Metropolis Ensemble concertmaster Kristin Lee, “a true artist” (The Strad).
Lee will perform the EP’s title track, a delirious exploration of the violin’s range as it gradually and elegantly falls from the high to low registers. Joyce will also perform a short set and demonstration on her vintage toy organ, including the premiere of a new work for organ and electronics. This album represents some of Joyce’s first expeditions into composing for acoustic instruments with electronics, specifically how the sonic personality of solo the violin morphs and churns in an electro-acoustic texture.
We are beyond excited to introduce Molly as a new member of the Metropolis Ensemble community. Over the coming seasons we are looking forward to many new collaborations and commissions.
