Metropolis devotes an entire evening to chamber works from acclaimed Israeli composer Avner Dorman. Featuring special guest artists Avi Avital (mandolin), Eliran Avni (piano), and New York Philharmonic’s Mindy Kaufman (piccolo) perform four of Dorman’s concerti: American premiere of Concerto in A (1995); American premiere of Concerto Grosso (2003); New York premiere of Piccolo Concerto (2001); and an encore performance of Mandolin Concerto (2006).
This concert is supported by Smithsonian Magazine. The wine reception is sponsored by SIMI Winery. As part of the annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, this concert is dedicated to celebrating the theme of "Harmony for Humanity" and the power of music.

About Avner Dorman
A graduate of the Juilliard School, where he earned a Doctorate in Composition, and a protégé of John Corigliano and Zubin Mehta, award-winning Avner Dorman is emerging as one of the leading composers of his generation. His music has been championed by many of the world’s finest conductors. A native of Israel now living in the United States, Dorman draws on a variety of cultural and historical influences in composing, resulting in music that affects an emotional impact while exploring new territories.
