Nina Young: Sun Propeller
Lanzilotti and Young perform their own works for violin, viola, and electronics. Young’s Sun Propeller evokes the propeller-like rays of light that occur when sunbeams pierce through openings in the clouds. Young performs her own Meditation and Temenos. Lanzilotti’s Casalmaggiore blends a field recording of construction work with layers of acoustic string sound. Finally, new material written especially for this concert by the two composers bridges these works together for an evening-length event.
