Christopher Foss
Christopher Foss is a bassoonist and teaching artist in Brooklyn, NY who frequents many special niches of musicking. He has performed with WildUp, SEM Ensemble, LCollective, Vinny Golia Large Ensemble, Dog Star Orchestra, and was formerly contrabassoonist with the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra and American Youth Symphony. Appearance highlights include performing with Helga Davis, Kathleen Battle, Joanna Newsom, and with artist Carole Kim in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. He is a student of Kinko-ryu shakuhachi playing and is actively learning traditional repertoire and creating new music with the instrument. He completed his MFA at CalArts and bachelors at the University of New Hampshire, where he was the recipient of an international research grant to study at L’Istituto Superiore Di Studi Musicali Gaetano Donizetti in Bergamo, Italy.
