Mara Meyer

Mara Mayer is a clarinetist and bass clarinetist who is always trying to learn something new. Her performance experience ranges from traditional Balinese Gamelan to performance art. Recent projects include Jeff Tobias' Recurring Dream Band, Banda de los Muertos, GABI, the Nouveau Classical Project, Curiosity Cabinet, CACEnsemble, and Corvus. Mara has been the clarinetist of the new music ensemble in residence for the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival since 2017 and Wildshore New Music Festival in 2021 in Homer, Alaska. Recent residencies include the Avaloch Farms New Music Initiative and Earthdance E|Merge. In 2011 Mara founded Home Audio, an ongoing monthly performance series funded by the Brooklyn Arts Council that features experimental music, dance, and visual art. Mara holds degrees in Music Performance from the Eastman School of Music and Brain and Cognitive Science from the University of Rochester. She currently teaches clarinet and chamber music at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
