Metropolis presents the complete chamber orchestra concerti of Avner Dorman at Angel Orensanz Center in October 2007.In October 2007 at Angel Orensanz Center, Metropolis devoted an entire evening to chamber works from acclaimed Israeli composer Avner Dorman. Featuring special guest artists Avi Avital (mandolin), Eliran Avni (piano), and New York Philharmonic’s Mindy Kaufman (piccolo) perform four of Dorman’s concerti: American premiere of Concerto in A (1995); American premiere of Concerto Grosso (2003); New York premiere of Piccolo Concerto (2001); and an encore performance of Mandolin Concerto (2006). Also featuring Metropolis soloists Arnaud Sussmann, Lily Francis, Eric Nowlin, Michal Korman, and Mindy Kaufman.
This concert was the preamble to our debut studio album, the Grammy-nominated “Avner Dorman: Concertos” (2010) on Naxos Records.
