Praised for her rhythmic precision and dynamic range, harpist Dr. Ashley Jackson brings her latest project Electric Lady to 1 Rivington. Electric Lady is a celebration of contemporary solo and chamber works written by female composers, whose works form the heart of this engaging program.

The evening highlights her collaboration with New York City-based composer Danielle Eva Schwob, who has been described as a “notable cross-genre composer” (The New Yorker) and a musical polymath with “deep roots in rock music” (New York Times).

Electric Lady also reflects Dr. Jackson’s developing interest in works for harp and electronics. The program will include Angelica Negrón’s Technicolor, which juxtaposes the acoustic instrument with pre-recorded material, resulting in a soundscape that is both mechanical and mysterious.

Electric Lady will include spoken remarks about the salient themes that have emerged as Dr. Jackson developed the content for this program.
