About the Concert
Join Metropolis Ensemble and Artistic Director / Conductor Andrew Cyr for "Scar Arias", an intimate Salon style concert featuring a unique blend of electro-acoustic music, poetry, and cuisine in an historic townhouse setting.
"Scar Arias" is a five-song cycle work by composer Ricardo Romaneiro for chamber ensemble, electronics, and written for soprano Mellissa Hughes with words by Christopher Cahill. Electronic ambient soundscapes orchestrated and mixed with acoustic instruments weaves the listener on a kaleidoscopic and contemplative journey of sound and poetry. Fluid vocals lines are embellished by musical tone paintings through live electronic manipulations of the voice.
Wine reception to follow accompanied by a truly unique culinary experience. Seeking to investigate the physical and chemical transformations of ingredients in cooking, chefs Dain Lee and Boy Sumran will take their inspiration from the musical soundscapes and textures of "Scar Arias".
