Playlist for the week of July 9, 2021During the pandemic, I missed my creator friends. I renewed my commitment to uplift Black and marginalized voices. I ran thousands of miles. For half of the pandemic, I couldn't bring myself to touch the piano. During the other half, practicing for future performances was the rock in my daily routine that kept me honest and human, and let me see light at the end of the tunnel. About Miki SawadaMiki is a pianist best known for her Gather Hear Tour, in which she travels to all 50 states with a piano to perform in community gathering spaces. The project explores classical music's power to bring us together through an elevated communal experience, with the goal of igniting real connections among Americans across state, political, and socioeconomic lines in a time of deep division.
